Have you ever wondered about the power of your words? How a simple phrase or an encouraging sentence can transform your mindset and shape the course of your life? In this blog, I’ll briefly touch on the powerful concept of speaking in faith and explore how it can lead us to become STRONG TOWERS – just like Abraham in the Bible.
Abraham, known as the father of faith, serves as an incredible example of the transformative power of speaking in faith. He faced numerous trials and challenges throughout his life, yet he never wavered in his belief in God’s promises. Even when circumstances seemed impossible, Abraham chose to speak words of faith and trust in God’s plan. In Romans 4:3, What does Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness”.
In my opinion, one of the most impactful examples of Abraham speaking in faith was when God tested him by asking him to sacrifice his long awaited son on a specific mountain top. As unimaginable as this “ask” was, Abraham was totally obedient as He trusted God’s will OVER his own will – even though it meant killing his own son! Can you imagine? A significant observation I’d never captured until recently, were Abraham’s words to his servants before taking his son to the mountain top to sacrifice him: In Genesis 22:5 Abraham said to his servants, “Stay here with the donkey while I and the boy go over there. We will worship and then we will come back to you.” Notice he said … WE will come back to you! In total blind faith he spoke it as a matter of fact! And as we know, God DID end up sparing Isaac’s life!
Why is speaking in faith so important? It goes beyond mere positive thinking or wishful affirmations. When we speak in faith, we align our thoughts and words with God’s truth and His promises for our lives. Our words have the power to shape our thoughts, actions, and ultimately, our destinies.
Consider this: if we constantly speak words of doubt, fear, and negativity, we are essentially sowing seeds of doubt and limitation in our lives – how can we honor our Supernatural God with a spirit of doubt, fear and limitations? On the other hand, when we choose to speak words of faith, hope, and encouragement, we create an atmosphere of possibility and open ourselves up to the blessings that God has in store for us.
So how can we become women of great faith and experience the transformational power of speaking in faith? It starts with being intentional about our thoughts and words. Take a moment to reflect on your current thought patterns and the words you speak. Are they aligned with God’s truth and His promises? Or do they reflect doubt, fear, and negativity?
When we recognize areas where our thoughts and words need to change, we can take proactive steps towards transformation. Proverbs 23:7 “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he” Reminds us how important it is to think proper thoughts. Start by intentionally starting each day with a spirit of gratitude, read God’s Word daily to keep your mind renewed, and connect with positive Christian influences who can offer encouragement and support.
Additionally, a powerful tool in speaking in faith is the practice of Biblical declarations. By repeating positive statements aligned with God’s promises, we reinforce our belief in His goodness and provision. Choose powerful Biblical declarations that resonate with your personal spiritual journey and speak them aloud daily, internalizing them until they become a part of your core beliefs. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you in this process. Psalm 119:15,16 I will meditate on Your precepts, And contemplate Your ways. I will delight myself in Your statutes; I will not forget Your word.
Let us remember that as women of faith, our words have the power to shape our destiny. By speaking in faith, we not only please God and inspire ourselves, but also those around us. Our words can encourage, uplift, and motivate others to walk steadfast in their own faith journeys.
As we focus on this practical application of speaking in faith, let us be mindful of our thoughts and actions. Let us motivate change through our words, embracing the transformative power they hold. Together, with the help of the Holy Spirit within us, we can become women of great faith, impacting the world around us and living out God’s purpose for our lives.
