God’s Plan: The Path Less Traveled

Look at what Jeremiah 29:11 says about God’s plans for your life: “For I know the plans I have for you. Plans to prosper you and not harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future.” I’d say this verse is a powerful testament to God’s unfailing love for us and His desire for our ultimate good. Yet, one might wonder, why do so many of us miss out on God’s plan for our lives?

The answer is simple yet complex: Choice. We are all blessed with the gift of free will, a divine endowment that allows us to choose our path in life. God has a specific design for each one of us, and has given us individual talents and abilities to carry His good plans and purposes for our lives out, BUT it is ultimately our decision whether or not we follow it. More often than not, we become entangled in our own designs, distractions, temptations and ambitions, overlooking God’s perfect plan.

When we decide to follow our own path instead of His, we are essentially choosing to miss God’s purpose for our lives. This choice is often fueled by pride and arrogance, two destructive forces that blind us to the divine wisdom of God’s plan. Just like the evil serpent whispered in Eve’s ear, pride whispers in our ear, “I know better than God.” It convinces us we can handle our lives better than the Creator Himself. It makes us believe in our own fallible understanding over God’s infinite wisdom.

Pride manifests itself in various ways. It may say, “I know what God says about sex, but I’m going to do it my way.” Or, “I know what God says about money, but I’ll handle it my way.” It may even convince us to harbor resentment instead of offering forgiveness as God commands. This arrogance, this ego-driven pride, is what leads us astray from the purpose God created us for and can make life quite painful in the process.

Despite these pitfalls, there is a beacon of hope. You cannot miss God’s purpose for your life if you genuinely want it. Surrendering control, letting go of pride, and choosing to follow God’s plan requires courage, humility, and a heart open to spiritual guidance. It involves saying, “God, I’m all in! I’m willing to do whatever you say to do and trust you, even when I don’t understand it all, even when it may be politically incorrect or unpopular.”

Following God’s plan is not about conforming to the world’s standards but seeking His will above ours. It’s about recognizing that our understanding is limited and God’s wisdom is boundless. It’s about choosing God’s way over ours and trusting in His plan instead of our own.

So let me encourage you today: choose God’s way over yours. Embrace the path He has planned for you. It may not always be easy or popular, but it will always lead to prosperity, hope, and a future. After all, God’s plans are to prosper you and not harm you. Trust in Him, surrender your pride, and embrace His divine purpose for your life. God Bless! Till next time – Georgina.
